June 2019

Type of Apprenticeship: Cabinet Making

Stage of Apprenticeship: 1st Year

Commencement Date: 03/06/2019

Expected Completion Date: 02/06/2023

Why did you become an apprentice? I became an apprentice carpenter in 2017, after doing 2 doorways to constructions courses at school, and have in the last month, changed careers/apprenticeship into cabinet making. I find being an apprentice is a good way to be able to learn the trade and work at the same time.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship? Being given the opportunity to learn new skills and put them into practice everyday.

Would you recommend Master Builders SA apprenticeships to others and why? Yes I would and I have, because they have supported and helped me with moving over to an apprenticeship I am enjoying and learning so much, this would of not possible without the caring support from Master Builders staff.

Field Coordinator’s comments: Jaymie has shown that making a career change from Carpentry to Cabinetmaker has been not only a breath of fresh air but very rewarding in all sense of the word. Jaymie did not make this decision lightly by already having lots of industry knowledge and also receiving plenty of advice made the decision so much easier. Jaymie was given an opportunity to try out with Comace Pty Ltd and has proven that she is capable of matching it with the rest of team. Well done Jaymie, very proud of the way you were able to commit to a new Trade and rise to the occasion.
