This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge required to safely identify, manage, and work with asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in the workplace.
Asbestos remains present in many residential, commercial, and infrastructure environments across Australia. This course focuses on safe handling practices and legal requirements for working with non-friable asbestos in limited quantities.
TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:
- Asbestos use and production in Australia
- Health risks associated with asbestos exposure
- Selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Working with asbestos cement products and roofs
- Electrical work involving asbestos-containing materials
- Decontamination of work areas and equipment
PREREQUISITES:
No formal prerequisites. Participants should have a basic level of literacy and numeracy.
