Bradford Projects by Scott Salisbury

Project name: 10NW Woodville West

Judges were impressed to see a strong client / builder partnership on 10NW at Woodville West, providing an affordable housing product without compromising material selection standards or building quality. Thoughtful and efficient planning and design was evident with upgrades available to buyers of individual units. The outcome is an impressive and contemporary urban development project which enabled ten eligible South Australians to achieve home ownership via the SA Housing Authority ‘HomeSeeker’ program for an affordable cost. Environmental efficiencies such as thermal insulation and inclusion of solar panels will ensure ongoing lower living costs for owners.

Catcorp

Norwood Green – Stage Two

Norwood Green – Stage Two apartments by Catcorp was completed at the highest level of excellence. Catcorp managed the design and construct process through to practical completion, including the post delivery to the purchaser and tenant handovers, to the transfer of the built community land. External works were of the highest industry standard, comprising of solid concrete construction with full span concrete floors and internal and external pre-finished / coloured concrete panels. Feature brickwork, perforated metal screen and multi-layered façade treatments. The site provided multiple challenging building issues including a significant cross fall that required careful design and interface. The internal apartments were finished to the highest level with a premium level of finishes. An outstanding job by Catcorp.

Nominated by Built for Mount Barker Hospital Emergency Department, and nominated by Synergy Construct for Norwood COMO Mixed Development, and nominated by Schiavello Construction SA for Avista Baywaters – Stage 3

Nominated by three builders across three separate projects this year, Jordan Plumbing were said to be highly approachable and work well as a team, actively engaging to solve problems on-site. They are proactive, offering solutions to address changing conditions and exhibit a strong awareness of their surroundings. They work collaboratively with all stakeholders, even when scheduled works are required to change at the last minute. A truly deserving winner of Builders Choice Trade Contractor – Commercial.

Framewayz were nominated by two builders across multiple projects in this year’s awards. They demonstrate exceptional precision and skill in their craft with their expertise ensuring that structural elements such as framing, flooring, and roofing are installed accurately and securely, setting the stage for the rest of the build. They work efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner, helping to keep the construction project on schedule. Their ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality is invaluable for meeting project deadlines. Framewayz play a critical role in the construction process, and their exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, efficiency, problem-solving skills, and contribution to overall quality make them deserving of this award.

Marshall & Brougham Constructions

Project name: Murray Bridge Racecourse Stables and Equine Pool

Located on over 110,000m2 of vacant land adjacent the new Murray Bridge Horse Racing Club and future subdivision, this unique project by Marshall & Brougham Constructions was an absolute stand-out. Consisting of extensive civil and stormwater enabling works, substantial flood mitigation and stormwater systems including new dams, new rising culvert and flood plain which was incorporated into the district council flood management for the region. The project incorporated the construction of six horse stabling buildings, a 70-metre long equine pool, training enclosures and horse walkers, vehicle and float parking. The project also included substantial upgrades and new service infrastructure to the entire site and future subdivision. An outstanding civil project by Marshall & Brougham Constructions.

Project name: Mount Barker Hospital Emergency Department

The Mount Barker Hospital Emergency Department project is a testament to Built and their strength in managing every aspect of a project. Built delivered an outsanding building on a fixed lump sum, engaged with the community, worked cohesively with their trade contractors in project charters and worked closely with the ED staff, to not only build but design beautiful working spaces. The project was constructed in high quality, both internally and externally. Considering the challenges they sustained throughout the process, this project was delivered to the finest standard, exceeding the client expectations.

Mossop Construction + Interiors

Project name: Trinity College Theatre & Performing Arts Centre

Mossop emerged as the winner of this category against a very competitive field because their workmanship, both internally and externally was near perfect, particularly in the management of complex curved walls and raked ceiling interfaces. Mossop exhibited a passion and detailed knowledge of this project from the outset thus ensuring that the intricate complexity of a theatre environment, specifically in regard to acoustics and lighting, were professionally addressed. There were few defects. The project had an absolute immovable deadline which whilst extremely tight was achieved and also meeting the school’s budget. They scored highly in all the assessment categories, not the least being from a very satisfied client.

Kennett

Project name: Nazareth Senior Campus – Stage 3

This project was extremely complex covering the construction of all the facilities required of a highly respected secondary school. The school had made a commitment to parents of an opening date that could not be moved. This required Kennett to commence construction with documentation still be resolved. A very strong relationship between client, consultants and the builder engendered an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. Within this spirit of cooperation Kennett’s project managed the delivery of this school, meeting all the objectives set. Very high end but durable finishes were selected by the architect which were essential to achieve a superb outcome. Respect for the designers was clearly shown in maintaining these finishes whilst under value management scrutiny. The finishes achieved both internally and externally was exceptional. In all other assessment criteria Kennett scored very highly consequently resulting in them being a worthy winner of this category.

Partek Construction & Interiors

Project: West Beach Surf Life Saving Club

Partek delivered a building with excellence in finishes both externally and internally. What set them aside was the use of their experience to advise the client and designers in refining the details in this building of this type, in this location. The very harsh salty conditions on the seaside of the esplanade were dealt with well on recommendations of the builder, as was the revision of the footing design to suit the light sandy conditions of the foundations. Partek adapted well to the windy weather conditions, the proximity to a popular beach and the need to manage the traffic in hand with the local council. Partek’s excellent finishes and collaborative approach made this project a worthy recipient of this award.

Commercial / Industrial Building over $100M

Lendlease

Project name: Australian Bragg Centre

This was a particularly difficult and complex build for Lendlease fraught with challenges. The project consisted of a 15-storey purpose built biomedical development which incorporated a proton bunker. It was a difficult site for access requiring careful coordination by the builder. The site also had contamination issues that had to be managed. The design of the building was complex and of a very high standard boasting exacting high-quality finishes. The requirements for the Proton Therapy machine have to be seen to be believed. Overall, this is an exceptional building which has been executed to the highest level of excellence.

Cook Building

Project: Taylors Wines Cellar Door

The attention to detail and high internal and external standards on Taylors Wines Cellar Door by Cook Building is outstanding. The project comprised five distinct areas including the main tasting room, the courtyard, the east patio, the event pavilion, and a Collector’s Club members tasting room. A large proportion of the materials were recycled or custom supplied both locally or overseas. This added to the many challenges throughout the build, with materials damaged throughout transit. Cook Building were innovative and forward thinking and adapted to these challenges efficiently and professionally. The outcome is an outstanding project, and a reflection of what can be achieved when you have strong collaborative relationships between the builder, architect and client.
