Commercial / Industrial Building up to $5M

GT Building Group
Clare Valley Distillery

“Craftsmanship, collaboration and creativity came together to deliver a truly distinctive build – one that is both grounded in its rural surroundings and refined in its execution. This bespoke gin cellar door redefines the ‘shed conversion’ aesthetic. Standard finishes were replaced with high-end alternatives – such as raw, clear-coat steel and hardwood battens. The result delivers warmth and permanence. The 100-year old cactus at the heart of the design wasn’t just a feature, it was a key stakeholder and the builder took care to protect the site. The final result delivered exceptional value at $1 million less than competing tenders.”

Commercial / Industrial Building $5M to $10M

Mossop Construction and Interiors
Norwood Ambulance Station

“This Station was delivered on time and constructed without fault in the high quality, complex finishes. Mossop Construction built the Station on a site bordered by two busy roads and with neighbours on either side. This building was the flagship in the South Australian rollout of new ambulance stations and drew significant attention and accolades. The builder managed a number of issues well – including significantly contaminated soils and abandoned fuel tanks which were discovered after construction began. Quality assurance and safety issues were also managed in an exemplary manner.”

Sponsored by Bianco

Commercial / Industrial Building 10M to $20M

Harrold and Kite
Flinders Chase National Park, New Visitor Centre

“This was extremely complex due to its remote location and the inter-connection between the diverse building materials. Rammed earth walling was used internally for thermal inertia and the early sequencing of these walls required careful planning alongside the timber and steel elements. The quirky nature of the design and the finishes was well executed. One of the biggest challenges was its location on Kangaroo Island. The equipment was held in a camp one hour drive away, yet the builder managed this and other safety and environmental issues in the dense and protected Australian bushland.”

Commercial / Industrial Building $20M to $50M

Badge Constructions
Repat Health Precinct

“This project required transforming a vacant building within an active hospital campus into a state-of-the-art Health Precinct. There was only one single access driveway which required strict coordination of deliveries and working hour limitations. The site had significant asbestos removal issues, inaccurate documentation, heritage constraints and live services running across to adjacent buildings. Despite all these challenges, Badge did an excellent job in coming up with time and cost savings and handing over the building in a staged process which met the client’s requirements. The project, which was delivered using an ECI and Managing Contractor converting to a fixed price, and the savings were then returned to the client.”

Commercial Building $50M to $100M

Built
Commercial Building $50M to $100M

“The Coopers project was a massive undertaking – requiring a contemporary visitor centre with tasting facilities, function spaces, a casual bar and restaurant, a micro-brewery, distillery and exhibition space. As managing contractor, Built delivered to a very high standard. The project included a spiral feature concrete stair, a large waterproofed podium and significant landscaping and fitout. Some of the challenges for the project included the retaining of excavated contaminated material on site, shared access with another contractor, noise control and the early handover of the micro-brewery area. The project was completed on time and the client was extremely happy.”

Commercial Building over $100M

Hansen Yuncken
Flinders Uni Health & Medical Research

“Extremely complex but built to the highest of standards, the judges found it nearly impossible to find fault with this project. Built on a difficult and busy site, the facility included laboratories with up to 12 air changes/ hour and an airtight building to avoid insect infestation. Hansen Yuncken adopted industry and in-house software for quality control, safety and defects management. They also developed special IP to assist in BIM delivery. It was independently assessed to meet Gold level LEED certification and self-assessed for 5 Star Green Star ratings. The client, who benchmarked the project against similar national projects, deemed it to the best of its kind to date.”

Commercial Building Fit-out up to $5M

FDC Construction & Fitout (SA)
Station Road Restaurant & Bar

“This was a high-end fit-out of a premier dining destination. The brief encompassed a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, luxurious dining areas, and a climate-controlled wine room. The project features an exceptional palette of high-end finishes, including custom-cut marble benchtops, American oak wall panelling, polished brass detailing, Italian terrazzo flooring and hand-finished plasterwork. The construction was staggered and required the cooperation of multiple stakeholders within a tight timeframe while also ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining an excellent client relationship. The end result is a truly delightful addition to Adelaide life.”

Commercial Building Fit-out over $5M

SHAPE
Adelaide University Union House Redevelopment

“This was a difficult fitout of 1970’s state heritage building. Built over 5 levels which had been altered many times over 50 years, the internal finishes required a combination of new materials to match the original building. The different components were extraordinary, because the old spaces in the building needed to service many new activities and operations. The Unibar was rebuilt while the existing bar was still in operation. New areas included a theatre, gym, prayer room, restaurant with a commercial kitchen and offices. A new services duct was also carefully installed in an old stairwell. The build required complex scheduling and resource management.”

Commercial Refurbishment / Redevelopment up to $5M

FDC Construction & Fitout (SA)
King Living Showroom

“This was a comprehensive and state-of-the-art refurbishment and redevelopment of an existing commercial space. The project required extensive works to align with the brand vision while ensuring modern functionality, sustainability, and customer experience. It involved the demolition and structural modifications to join two buildings together and create a large, high-end showroom. The new elevated glass facades provide a first-class experience. The works were undertaken over three stages while the business continued to trade. Delivered under a lump sum contract, the project ensured cost certainty while maintaining the highest quality standards.”

Commercial Refurbishment / Redevelopment over $5M

SHAPE
Adelaide University, Quantum Materials Laboratory

“The original contract scope was delivered on time despite substantial design development changes required post-award. The MBE lab was handed over early to enable the University to remove sensitive equipment from storage, aligning with its cleanroom certification milestone. Additional scope was integrated without extending the project schedule. Shape’s initiative to propose a point cloud survey prevented re-work and reduced design risk.”

Industrial Building up to $10M

Tandem Building
Cross Keys Road Warehouse

“Featuring burnished concrete floors and a premium fitout, this massive industrial project was built on a floodplain and demanded careful logistics and technical excellence. Tandem navigated nearby tenants, and supply chain disruptions to complete in under 12 months. Their vertically integrated approach, ensured a streamlined process from subdivision to completion. Early contractor involvement eliminated risks early and reduced lead times. Sustainability initiatives included rainwater harvesting, daylight-responsive lights, stormwater swales, and translucent wall sheeting. With zero safety incidents, the project exceeded expectations.”

Apartments

Fusco Constructions
28 Everard Park

“Fusco created innovative interior design solutions for this projct. Each apartment was individually designed and constructed with stylish forms and attention to detail. The project began during the Covid cost boom. Fusco maintained excellent client relations and honoured their original contracts. They also worked extremely closely with its sub-constractors and design teams to purchase material up front to control costs. Surplus land near a creek was also kindly donated back to the City of Unley and the Brownhill Creek Storm Water Board. This allowed a public walkway and bike way to be constructed and for the creek to be upgraded to reduce flooding risks for local residents.”

Building Structure – Residential

Built Structural
Tapestry

“This was a very high quality and high standard residential project. Having been pre-fabricated off site to then be installed at a regional location, there was little to no room for mistakes. The structural steel components allowed for the timber framing and deep joists to be added in accordance with plans and detailed requirements. The final structure allowed for timber to be fitted out from the columns and bracing, through to the wall framing and the large spanning steel roof structure. These spans allowed for best viewing from the residence over the river and its views. The external stair case was also a fantastic feature of the layout.”

Finishes Contractor – Residential

Adelaide Tiling Co
Semaphore Residence

“This tiling project had to deal with various challenges right from the start as the build presented one of the biggest challenges to modernisation; irregular walls and non-uniform block sizes that defied standard construction practices. The renovation project sought to breathe new life into the space, blending historic preservation with 21st century functionality. From the outset, the irregularity of the stone walls posed significant design and structural challenges. Despite the hurdles, the waterfall kitchen bench is a real feature how it wraps around keeping the stone to look as one whole piece.”

Services Contractor – Commercial

Tyrone Electrical Services
Burnside Shopping Centre

“This project had to accommodate the ongoing power supply around the opening hours and activity of the existing shopping centre and the active construction of the new addition. Tyrone Electrical Services met these logistical challenges, resolved issues with ease and worked well with all other contractors on site to meet the required timeframes. Tyrone set out the approach to the transformers individually, isolating and clearly marking each lighting point in the Centre, in case one failed and they needed to identify and rectify an issue with efficiency. They also provided ways to save costs by having the lighting dim within curtain times to save on energy costs for the client.”

Finishes Contractor – Commercial

Capstone Construction
Coopers Brand Home

“Capstone provided several wonderful finishes for this project, managing the challenges of ceiling panels individually made offsite and then brought in for installation. The panels came in at different times for different rooms in the home, further exacerbating the challenge. Capstone managed this and lined up each panel for correct placement and avoided gaps for the next panel. Handmade copper drums for fitting around the ceiling panels were not perfectly symmetrical, and this presented an additional challenge to overcome. The outcome was a huge credit to Capstone, from the design team to the installers, who together provided a unique one of a kind finish to this build.”
