Their subcontractor relationships, particularly in regard to critical trades, along with their client relationships are outstanding. This highly contested and presitgious award goes to Scott Salisbury Homes because they achieved building excellence in every project. Sterling Homes have excelled right across the board. Their display homes were all extremely well built and particular attention was paid to all finishes. Sterling Homes offer great value for money and their overall build quality is outstanding.

Certified Trade Professional of the Year

Winner – Ross Caddey, Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd

Ross has over 25 years solid experience within the building and construction industry incorporating tower and mobile cranes, steel erection, pre-cast panel erection, plan reading and staff management as well as general administration skills. He is self-motivated, diligent, committed, reliable and trustworthy. One of his outstanding attributes is the ability to combine patience, determination and persistence to troubleshoot issues as they arrive.

Certified Construction Professional of the Year

Winner – Paul Williams, Comace Pty Ltd

Paul Williams is the Managing Director of Comace – a commercial joinery and maintenance company he established in 1980. Since then, he has grown the business and expanded it to a team of 25 and the company is regarded as one of the leading joinery and maintenance firms in South Australia. Paul oversees the business development and planning strategies for the company and he is a respected member of the building and construction industry in South Australia.

Winner – Axis Constructions (SA) Pty Ltd

Axis Constructions embraced the complexity of the design and managed the installation of the varying materials to achieve a high quality result. The feature rammed earth wall is a highlight of the project.

Winner – Michael Kregar Building Pty Ltd: Loxton Agricultural Research Centre

Michael Kregar Building is a local Riverland contractor who obtained Cat 3 pre-qualification to tender for this project. The building has been constructed to a very high standard with particular attention to detail on the quality finishes. Michael Kregar engaged predominently local trades and business and used the project ot provide traineeships resulting in a positive legacy for the area.

Winner – Sarah Constructions Pty Ltd: Wilderness School

Sarah worked closely with Wilderness School to plan and execute the construction of three distinctly different and complex stages of simultaneous construction in the heart of the school. Despite the challenges the project was delivered to a high standard with minimum disruption to school activities.

Winner – Sarah Constructions Pty Ltd: Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS)

Sarah were engaged to construct the RFDS headquarters co-locating all of their facilities to one building; including the nursery/emergency medical, aircraft maintenance, administration and aircrew accomodation. The project was constructed on a difficult site with a high water table and Adelaide Airport restrictions. The detailing of various finishes was delivered to a high standard by the project team.

Winner – Sarah Constructions Pty Ltd: The Arc

The Campbelltown Leisure Centre is a large, unique facility that offers health and fitness facilities for the local community. It includes new sprung-timber floor stadiums with viewing areas for a diverse range of sports. The project was completed to a very high standard despite its complexity. It was obvious that the construction team worked closely with the client to overcome problems and produce a result that the client is extremely happy with.

Commercial / Industrial Building over $100m

Winner – Lendlease: Health and Medical Sciences Building – University of Adelaide

The judges were impressed by the high quality of internal and external finishes on this project. The position of a terrace to the north and an active rail system to the south on this site increased an already complex build. Cantilevered elements and a demanding level of excellence to the fitout and related services made this build a standout project greatly assisted by the systems and processes employed by the Lendlease team.

Winner -Built Environs Pty Ltd: Level 3 Refurbishment Modbury Hospital

This project comprised the redevelopment of level 3 to the Modbury Hospital. It was a fast-tracked multi-stage project carried out in a live hospital environment. The facility’s purpose is to enable stroke, amputee and those recovering from surgery to regain their independence. This was an extremely difficult project with access, staging and infection control issues to contend with. The delivery was well executed and achieved the client’s full satisfaction.

This was a very well managed and expertly finished project. The variety of finishes incorporated into the fit-out required a high level of management to achieve such an outstanding result.

Commercial Refurb/Redevelopment up to $5m

Winner – SHAPE Australia Pty Ltd: SAHMRI Dr Jones & Partners Imaging Facility

The project comprised a new ground floor and suspended mezzanine within the existing glazed structure of the north pod of the SAHMRI building. The fit-out was extremely complex as it was constructed within a very difficult space and needed to incorporate sensitive medical equipment and a number of consulting areas. SHAPE Australia delivered the project to a very high standard and met all of the client’s expectations.

Commercial Refurb/Redevelopment $5m to $15m

Winner – SHAPE Australia Pty Ltd: Transforming Health Noarlunga Hospital

The judges were impressed by the builders ability to deliver this staged project to the total satisfaction of the client and their stakeholders in what was a very difficult site located in the heart of a live hospital environment. The SHAPE team achieved a first class safety record and completed the project ahead of schedule with finishes that were of a very high standard.
