Home builds go gangbusters in SA

Quinella Win for Home Construction

4 November 2025

The recent rise in new home building approvals is a positive development for the industry.

In the 12 months leading up to September 2025, South Australia saw 14,743 new homes approved – a significant increase of 24.7% compared to the previous year and the largest of any State in the Nation.

“This is very encouraging news and combined with the average construction timeframe for new homes now decreasing from 16 months to 13.7 months, the new homeowner has struck a quinella,” said Master Builders SA CEO Will Frogley.

Will Frogley, while upbeat about the results, says he is cautiously optimistic.

“While it’s certainly a good step in the right direction, there is still more we must do as a State.

“We need to bolster the labour market by training and recruiting more people into our industry, and at the same time support our builders by reducing regulatory and red tape burdens.”

“That’s why apprentice recruitment programs like Born to Build and our Group Training Organisation are critical pathways to fill the 10,000 trades jobs required to keep a constant pipeline of work in our industry”.
