SWMS is a document, prepared in consultation with all relevant persons, that accounts for the workplace-specific circumstances that may affect the way in which the high-risk construction work is done.

MBASA provides training in the development, writing and review of Safe Work Method Statements for High-Risk Construction Work (HRCW) 

The course includes development of task specific SWMS for HRCW, participants are divided into teams for practical sessions enhance their learning experience.

TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:

  • Identifying work that is HRCW
  • Hazard identification and control method selection using the hierarchy of controls.
  • How to clearly detail the measures selected to control those risks & describe how the risk control measures will be implemented, monitored for effectiveness, and when to conduct SWMS reviews, taking into account the circumstances at the workplace that may affect the way in which the work is carried out.
  • How SWMS are an integral part of construction projects’ WHS management plans.
  • Consultation requirements for development and review.

PREREQUISITES:
There are no formal prerequisites.

Participants should have a basic level of literacy and numeracy.
