Congratulations Sam Hastie

Apprentice of the Month – October 2020

Trade: Carpentry

Stage of apprenticeship: 3rd year

Commencement date: November 2018

Expected completion date: December 2022

Why did you become an apprentice?

I previously worked as an Industrial Designer which involved too much time in front of a computer. I needed to get out of the office and into the fresh air where I could work with my hands and use both physical and mental energy. I have grown up with a decent size workshop in the backyard where I spent my free time building furniture for my bedroom. This is why I decided to become an apprentice carpenter.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

For me it’s all about learning new skills and knowledge every day. I’m currently renovating an old house and every new skill comes in handy to fix it up.

Would you recommend Master Builders SA apprenticeships and why?

Absolutely! MBA really do look after us apprentices whether that’s finding a suitable host, providing and replacing PPE and also giving support where needed through this training program

Field Coordinator comments:

Sam has been working with Kemp Carpenters since commencing his apprenticeship and has shown a great deal of dedication along with gaining valuable experience on multiple job sites. Sam is also looking to complete his Certificate IV in Carpentry along with other additional related building courses. Congratulations Sam on being nominated Apprentice of the month for October.
