Master Builders SA to Deliver New Mental Health Support Program

Master Builders SA is proud to partner with the Malinauskas Labor Government to deliver a new mental health support program aimed at reducing mental illness and suicide in the South Australian construction industry.

Master Builders SA was awarded a $150,000 grant which will be used to appoint wellness ambassadors who have been selected on their industry and mentoring experience or who have a personal journey overcoming stress, burnout or mental illness. Specialised training will be provided to each wellness ambassador to ensure they’re well prepared to provide early intervention support and awareness of other support services available such as Mates in Construction and the Healthy Workplace Services.

The new mental health support program will be available free of charge to all members of the South Australian building and construction industry, regardless of whether they are a member of Master Builders SA.  The service will be available across the state as it will be offered both in-person and online with one-on-one hourly coaching sessions.

Master Builders SA CEO Will Frogley says, “A ‘one size fits all’ approach to mental health will not be as effective as a program that connects South Australians with someone who will be best for their personality and circumstances. Master Builders SA and the State Government have brought together a diverse range of quality ambassadors with the expertise to address key ‘trigger points’ for those in the construction industry.”

More details will be announced when the program is officially launched in the coming weeks.
